Harga emas global terus alami penurunan mendekati level terendah dalam 4,5 tahun dan terlihat penurunan mingguan ketiga berturut-turut. Hal ini dikarenakan dolar Amerika Serikat (AS) menguat.
Mengutip Reuters, Jumat (7/11/2014), Dolar AS menguat karena ekspektasi Federal Reserve yang akan menaikan suku bunga lebih cepat. Laporan nonfarm payroll AS yang kuat bisa memberikan lebih banyak bukti dari penguatan ekonomi.
Harga emas di perdagangan Spot sedikit berubah pada USD1.140,6 per ons, mendekati level USD1.137,4 yang terendah sejak April 2010. Logam ini telah jatuh hampir 3 persen minggu ini.
Banyak aksi jual di emas dimulai dari pekan lalu, ketika logam menerobos USD1.180. Sejak itu, kekuatan dalam dolar dan istirahat di bawah tingkat teknis utama telah menyeret pada emas.
Sementara itu, laporan pekerjaan AS hari ini dipandang sebagai pemicu utama untuk dolar dan emas, yang berpotensi bisa mengirim harga emas meluncur ke USD1.000.
Selain kekuatan dolar, analis khawatir tentang kurangnya permintaan yang kuat di China. Konsumen atas logam biasanya membeli banyak perhiasan, bar dan koin setiap kali harga jatuh, menyediakan lantai ke bawah pasar, tapi belum terjadi saat ini.
Di antara logam mulia lainnya, perak terjebak mendekati terendah di Februari 2010 USD15,13 dan mengincar penurunan mingguan keempat berturut-turut.
